Meet Gloria X the rhino

Allow us to introduce a true embodiment of determination and vitality – Gloria X, a remarkable rhino gracing the grounds of Rhino Sanctuary Namibia. Gloria X was born in 2011 in Kalahari, Namibia, and she was among the first group of rhinos that were relocated to our sanctuary. From the moment she stepped onto the reserve, her infectious energy radiated.

Much like her name suggests, Gloria X personifies strength and a resolute spirit. Her unwavering desire to forge ahead in life knows no bounds, and if a fence post is in her way, she is not afraid of taking it on headfirst.

On the night between 18 and 19 August 2023, she welcomed her first calf – a very healthy and strong male. Her calf is the eighth calf born in our sanctuary this year. Now, we are allowing the new mother and her baby to find their place and get to know each other slowly and peacefully.

Xworks Interiors partnership

The personality of Gloria X align perfectly with the values of Xworks, an entity dedicated to shaping a sustainable and promising future. Read below what Xworks has to say about their partnership:

“Xworks Interiors is a company that prides itself on being more than just a profit-driven business. Recognizing the importance of social responsibility and environmental stewardship, we actively engage in various initiatives to give back to the community and protect the planet. With a focus on making a positive impact, we have implemented a range of activities that demonstrate our commitment to social welfare and conservation efforts.

We prioritize sustainability through our paper & e-waste recycling initiatives, and we engage with international brands who are eco-friendly and are known for their commitment to sustainability.

Just recently, along with a few other companies, Xworks has adopted a Rhinoceros housed in a newly built Rhino Sanctuary in the vast landscapes of Namibia. We had the liberty to name one of its newest residents, Gloria X, a majestic female rhinoceros who represents hope, resilience, and a brighter future for her endangered species. For Xworks, this initiative is more than just an act of compassion; it is a social responsibility we embrace to prevent the extinction of these magnificent creatures, caring for them so they can thrive, multiply, and remain protected from the threat of poachers.

The decision to adopt her is rooted in the understanding that every individual rhinoceros contributes to the survival of their species. By taking on the responsibility of caring for Gloria X, we become custodians of her future and invest in the greater cause of rhinoceros conservation.

Xworks hopes to inspire others to embrace their own roles in conservation efforts. Each act of compassion and responsibility reminds us that it is within our power to shape a better future for endangered species. Together, we can create a ripple effect of change, safeguarding biodiversity for generations to come. Through initiatives like this, we pave the way for a future where humans and wildlife coexist harmoniously, fostering a world enriched by the diversity of its inhabitants.”
