Sarel Swanepoel

Operations Manager

← Meet us

Sarel Swanepoel is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Rhino Sanctuary Namibia, bringing together wildlife management, habitat conservation and the practical realities of running a private wildlife sanctuary.

With extensive hands-on experience in wildlife and reserve operations, Sarel works closely with the animals, the land and the people responsible for protecting both. His responsibilities span wildlife monitoring and habitat management to security, infrastructure and the continuous development of the sanctuary.

For Sarel, conservation happens on the ground. It requires knowledge of the environment, an understanding of animal behaviour and the ability to make practical decisions that maintain the balance between wildlife, habitat and available resources.

Working closely with the sanctuary team and external conservation partners, he helps ensure that wildlife is managed responsibly and that operational decisions support the long-term health of the ecosystem.

His philosophy is straightforward: protecting wildlife means protecting the entire environment that allows it to thrive.

For Sarel, Rhino Sanctuary Namibia is a living ecosystem that requires attention, respect and responsibility every single day.
