Meet Pølsehorn the rhino

Pølsehorn is a young female white rhino at Rhino Sanctuary Namibia. Around three years old, she is still growing into herself and discovering her place within the sanctuary.

There is an openness to her. Curious, observant and constantly in motion. She approaches the world with a natural interest in what surrounds her, slowly building confidence with every step.

Pølsehorn belongs to a younger generation of rhinos raised in safety and protection. A generation that represents possibility. Not only survival, but the chance to grow, develop and one day help secure the future of the species.

Her strength is still unfolding. Not fully formed yet, but already present in the way she moves through the landscape. Calmly. Naturally. On her own terms.

Strength, humour and responsibility

Pølsehorn is supported by Robert Sørensen from Aalborg, Denmark, who chose to support a young female rhino as part of Rhino Sanctuary Namibia’s long-term mission.

Her name, Pølsehorn (“Sausage Roll”), carries both warmth and humour. Inspired by North Jutland humour and with a small nod to her brother Tank, known for his impressive horn, the name reflects a belief that serious causes do not always need serious expressions.

For Robert, supporting Pølsehorn is about more than protecting a single animal. It is about taking responsibility before it is too late and contributing to something that still has the chance to make a difference.

As he shared:

“To me, this partnership is not just about protecting an animal. It is about investing in the future. Taking responsibility before it is too late.”

The name also carries another idea. That strength and humour are not opposites. And that even the greatest commitments often begin in a very human place. One day, Pølsehorn may stand side by side with Tank, fully grown and strong in her own right. Until then, she continues to grow. And so does the responsibility to protect what still remains.
